After graduating from The University of Queensland, Dr Alan Poggio completed his early training in north Queensland. Having attained Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, he returned to work in rural general practice for 10 years in his hometown of Ingham. While also working as a clinical tutor for the JCU School of Medicine and as a supervisor for the General Practice training, Dr Poggio developed a keen interest in skin cancer medicine and surgery. He now holds advanced certificates of both skin cancer medicine and dermoscopy with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia and is a College-Accredited Skin Cancer Doctor.
Dr Poggio has worked at the Skin Repair Skin Cancer Clinic in Townsville since 2014.
