Dr Jonathan Coldwell began his career as a Research Scientist studying for a PhD in Sensory Physiology at the University of Adelaide. He then completed Medicine and Surgery at Flinders University in South Australia before residencies in Trauma & Emergency at The Alfred Hospital and Obstetrics at Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne and finally his general practice training.
He subspecialises in skin cancer medicine with further qualifications in skin cancer diagnosis, surgery and management and is a dedicated Skin Cancer Doctor at Bright Side Skin Cancer Centre (in The Bright Side Clinic, Byron Bay).
Dr Coldwell is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and a member of the Australian College of Cutaneous Oncology and the Sigma Xi Scientific Research Organisation. He is also a supervisor of general practice trainees and an RACGP examiner.
Dr Coldwell believes in an evidence-based approach to treating skin cancer and does not support treatments without proven scientific merit, which can offer false hope and become a financial burden to the patient and the taxpayer.
