Dr Joanna Hutcheon completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Griffith University in 2002 and a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from The University of Queensland in 2012. She completed her internship and junior doctor years at The Princess Alexandra, Hervey Bay and Ipswich Hospitals, and has practised in hospitals, medical centres and general practices since 2013. Dr Hutcheon was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2019 and went on to complete additional university qualifications in skin cancer surgery.
Dr Hutcheon has a particular interest in skin cancer medicine and has contributed to published research papers on metastatic melanoma. Her work has primarily focused on skin cancer detection and management since 2018.
