The National Skin Cancer Centres are Australia’s leading provider of skin cancer services, dedicated to delivering effective, quick and low-cost access to diagnosis and treatment. Our unique skin cancer facilities have been changing the medical landscape for nearly a decade. We place a strong emphasis on excellence in medical care, which is strengthened by our commitment to research and education.
Most of our doctors are involved in the ongoing education of GPs around Australia through university-certified Skin Cancer Medicine programs. Through HealthCert Education – the world’s largest skin cancer education provider – our doctors actively teach other doctors how to manage skin cancer. We are proud to share our knowledge and train other doctors in potentially lifesaving skills so they can improve outcomes for their patients.
Driven by a passion to make a difference and the vision of a world where nobody dies from skin cancer, the health and happiness of our patients are at the forefront of everything we do. We will address your skin concerns with expert consultations, accurate diagnoses and personalised treatments. We strive every day to exceed patient expectations and our main aim is to deliver to you the highest standard of care and most importantly, the utmost peace of mind.
The National Skin Cancer Centres Founder Paul Elmslie recognised the need for innovation of the current skin cancer management method after the unnecessary death of a 31-year-old mother of two, who died while waiting for nine months to receive treatment at a public hospital. Paul subsequently pioneered in the development of the skin cancer clinic model in the late 1990s and developed 23 skin cancer clinics across the country.
In Australia, 55-65 per cent of skin cancers are managed in primary care due a shortage of specialists. If the GP doesn't have the necessary skill set to address the patient's concern, the patient gets referred to the public hospital or specialist practice. Both referral options could involve additional cost and longer waiting times for the patient. We strive to provide universal access to professional screening, diagnosis and treatment that significantly reduces waiting times and saves lives.
Improve access to skin cancer care and reduce the mortality and morbidity of the disease.
Reduce the waiting time for patients to receive efficient diagnosis and treatment.
Provide vital skin cancer care to communities with limited or no access to specialists.
Offer a high-quality referral option to local GPs managing patients outside their scope.
Relieve the public hospital system as most patients cannot afford specialist care.
Save lives by dramatically reducing the delay in diagnosis and treatment.
