Backed by a Diploma of Dermatology, Dr Chris Kear's primary interests are in dermatology (especially managing patients with acne, particularly difficult and complex cases) and the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. He teaches at the Australian Institute of Dermatology and regularly attends national and international dermatology conferences to keep his knowledge up to date and ensure his patients receive the very best in dermatological care.

Dr Kear completed his medical degrees in Leeds, UK. He trained as a doctor in Yorkshire, taking on junior hospital posts in several specialities, including general medicine, ear nose and throat, obstetrics, gynaecology, geriatric care, psychiatry, general, neuro and vascular surgery, before finally settling in to family medicine, running his own practice in the UK for some time. He relocated with his family to Tasmania in 2003 and worked as a GP before undertaking further qualifications in dermatology and skin cancer. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
