Dr Rowan Purtell completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Queensland University of Technology in 2009 before graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Deakin University in 2013. He went on to complete a Diploma of Child Health at the University of Sydney in 2016 and achieved Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2018. In 2023, Dr Purtell completed an Advanced Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine through HealthCert and is currently continuing his postgraduate training in skin cancer medicine and surgery.
Dr Purtell has worked as a rural GP and has developed a clinical focus on skin cancer over the past seven years. He provides comprehensive skin checks and management of skin cancers, including advanced surgical techniques and procedures for benign skin lesions.
Dr Purtell has a special interest in the prevention, early detection and treatment of skin cancer. Growing up in Queensland and with a family history of skin cancer, he brings both professional expertise and personal experience to his clinical practice.
Outside of work, Dr Purtell enjoys snow skiing and spending time with his family.
